Common Questions
How does your discount program work?
We offer reduced testing rates in a number of neighborhoods (example map shown) in which residents can request to join their local discount group. Each group is in one of three general discount tiers (see table above), with savings based on group size. Through annual reminder emails, we offer discounted drop-in testing to each group once per calendar year, with a test date set in advance. This allows us to offer great savings to participating customers. |
Who's eligible for the discount program?
Eligible customers:
How do I take advantage of the group discount?
Eligible customers receive an annual reminder email with a discounted order link. These usually go out a few weeks before the planned discount route, and we'll often also send a final reminder closer to the route date. Reminder emails provide the expected test cost, the date of the discount route, the discount deadline (discounts expire at 5 PM the day before the route), and a convenient order link. To participate at the discounted rate, simply place an order before the discount deadline using the order link provided in the reminder email. (Note: after the discount expires, you'll still be able to use the order link to arrange service at our regular rates.) Reminder emails come from [email protected] or [email protected] - be sure to add us to your address book and ensure your email settings allow reminders to reach your main inbox.
When do you schedule discount routes?
We schedule most discount routes toward the earlier end of our testing season, before most group members start receiving reminder letters from their water district. February, March, and April are when we do most of this work, but dates can vary based on water district deadlines and test history. Testing earlier in the season allows us to ensure all group members are tested before their due date, reduce the amount of water district reminders that group members need to open and respond to, and schedule high-volume testing before we reach peak demand later in the year. We only offer discount routes in water districts with fixed due dates, so testing early should not affect your future due dates.
I missed ordering before the discount expired! What should I do?
Argh! How frustrating. If you were notified about a discount route but didn't order before the discount deadline, you can still use the order link in your reminder email to order service at our regular rates. If you'd like to remain in the discount group, please let us know, since non-participating accounts will automatically revert to our regular reminder and rate schedules otherwise. If you're being added to the group after the discount route for this calendar year, we'll be sure to notify you about any discounts we offer the group next year - if you still need testing for this year, please click here to order at our standard rates. Sorry, we can't reactivate or retroactively process discounts after they've expired.
How do you calculate group size?
Group size is based on participation from the prior group route, plus any new members who have asked to be added to the group. For existing groups, we calculate group size and set discounts during our slow season (November-January). Once we do this, the rate is set for the upcoming test season, and we're unable to make further discount adjustments until the next slow season.
Can a new discount area be created for my neighborhood?
We're happy to discuss forming a new discount group for folks who aren't covered by a discount area. A few things to be aware of: we have limited capacity for discounted testing, so we focus our efforts on areas where we expect equipment and boxes to be in good overall condition, and installed/maintained in a manner that allows us to promptly test. We require a minimum of ten participating households per discount area - until that time, we can keep a running list of interested customers and consider creating a new group once we reach the minimum. Formation of new discount groups, including group boundaries, is entirely at our discretion - we carefully consider our ability to serve prospective groups to make sure we're allocating our time and resources carefully and providing solid service to participating customers. Please contact us if you think your neighborhood might be a good candidate for a new group.
Eligible customers:
- Are located within an existing discount area with at least ten participating households.
- Have asked to be added to the discount group.
- Have a single small outdoor assembly that can be tested on a drop-in basis, without the need for additional scheduling coordination (like appointment times or advance notifications).
- Have participated in the most recent discount route for which they were notified, if applicable.
- Have equipment that's installed and maintained in a manner that facilitates testing.
- Have equipment which isn't repeatedly buried, flooded, or crowded by vegetation.
- Don't meet any of our criteria for inactive accounts.
- Are otherwise in compliance with our Terms of Service and reliably prepared for testing as indicated in our prep guide.

Additional Details
Email reminders
Group members who wish to order discounted service are responsible for ordering by the discount deadline and making sure we have current contact details. Discounts are offered exclusively through the automated group reminder emails. Sorry, we're unable to call or manually email group members with reminders. We want to make sure you don't miss out on group discounts but can't be responsible for inbox sorting algorithms or spam filters, so please update your email settings to make sure messages from [email protected] reach your main inbox, and be sure to order promptly when your reminder arrives. 🙂
Group Membership
Because we have limited capacity for discounted testing, membership in discount groups is opt-in only, and we keep groups membership limited to folks who actively participate in discount routes. This means that customers we test within existing group discount areas are not automatically added to the group, and that if you're notified about a discount route but don't participate at the discounted rate, you'll be moved to our regular reminder and rate schedule going forward. If you'd like to be re-added to a discount group, please contact us.
Discount Program Updates
Participation levels, field conditions, scheduling capacity, assembly condition, pricing structure, and other criteria may affect the rates and services we're able to offer. Thus we reserve the right to update or elements of the discount program as needed, and entirely at our discretion. This may include adjustments to discount levels, group boundaries, eligibility criteria, or any other details of the program, up to and including discontinuation of the program and/or dissolution of existing discount groups.
Installation and Maintenance
As noted above, we ask that equipment be installed and maintained in a manner that facilitates testing. Flooded boxes, buried equipment, hidden boxes, encroaching vegetation, corroded equipment, tight clearances, and deep installations (greater than 24") are examples of conditions which can substantially add to the time and effort required for testing. As such, these conditions will disqualify a site from the discount program, and a high frequency of them in a given neighborhood may prevent us from offering (or continuing) discounted service in some areas.
Group Maps
Please contact us if you'd like a current boundary map for your local discount group.
Additional Parts and Services
As always, test pricing (whether discounted or at our standard rates) assumes assemblies can be readily located, accessed, and tested. Charges for a basic test include service call, drop-in testing on one assembly, and reporting to your water district, which we take care of for you after the test. If additional parts or services are required to complete the work, you'll be invoiced for these items.
Terms of Service
All tests are subject to our Terms of Service and the policies outlined in our FAQ. Our prep guide includes some highlights from these, plus lots of handy photos to help customers be better prepared for our visit.
